EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE (EYFS) 

In Bastion School, our EYFS comprises of children from the ages on 3months to 5years+. Admission is open from 3months where they are admitted into our Cradle Care and keep graduating into other early year classes. However, admission is also open into other classes of our early years.

  • Cradle care: 3 months+
  • Ruby class: 1 - 2 Years old
  • Preschool: 2 - 3 years old
  • Nursery: 3 - 4 years old
  • Reception: 4 - 5 years old 

 

In EYFS, from the age of 1+ to the end of the Reception Year, children follow: Montessori Education:It is a revolutionary method of observing and supporting the natural development of children. Montessori educational practice helps children develop creativity, problem solving, social, and time management skills, to contribute to society and the environment, and to become fulfilled persons in their particular time and place on Earth. The basis of Montessori practice in the classroom is respected individual choice of research and work, and uninterrupted concentration rather than group lessons led by an adult.

KEY STAGES 1 AND 2: ENGLISH NATIONAL CURRICULUM

Children enter Key Stage 1 at the age of five and Key Stage 2 at the age of seven and are taught using the National Literacy and Numeracy strategies.In doing so, we provide broad, balanced, relevant and appropriately focused programmes of work that engage the children's interest levels and take account of the different ways in which they enjoy learning.  All the children in Key Stages 1 and 2 study the following:

AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

These after-school activities take place on selected days of the week and usually run for about one hour per session, ensuring children remain engaged without feeling overwhelmed. We place strong importance on after-school enrichment and currently offer a variety of clubs designed to support physical development, creativity, confidence, and social skills. Our clubs include IT & Robotics, STEM, Art, Sewing and Dance, giving children the opportunity to explore their interests, stay active, and grow in a fun, structured environment.


ADMISSIONS

Admissions are completed following an in-person consultation with parents. To register interest, parents are invited to contact us to schedule this meeting, during which we discuss the child’s needs, interests, and development, provide detailed information about our programs, and ensure the best possible fit before enrollment.
